The motor is the same motor that powers your car. The constant running of that motor can cause the motor to wear out faster than it can be replaced. Also, the motor is very loud. The motor is designed to operate in the range of 0-30 psi.
The problem is that oil pressure is a pretty fluid thing to work with. A pump is designed to operate in a specific pressure range, so if you’re not careful, you can end up with a pump that is very noisy and a lot more expensive than it needs to be. It is possible for oil pressure to fluctuate within a specific range, but it is very rare. The only other case I know of is when a pump is working well, and the oil pressure is increasing. When this occurs, the motor will need to be replaced.
