Oil is a very important factor to consider when selecting the color of a home. We have so many options out there, and there are so many different types and shades to choose from. So if you want to go all out and try something new, you may be looking at an eye-watering amount of oil.
I have this quote on my bathroom mirror: “You’re gonna need some oil.” That’s probably not something I’d want to hear, but it’s the reality.
Its a good thing we can put so much oil on our bathroom mirrors, because oil is one of the most important factors in selecting a color of a home. When we think about a color, we look at how it will blend with our home. We don’t really think about how much oil it will take up and how much it will cost to maintain. We just think about the colors on a color wheel, and that’s all that matters.
You see this all the time in homes that have oil on the bathroom sink. To me, this is the most obvious example of a home that has a high maintenance cost. However, I am sure that most homes arent using this oil that much, and we can easily find homes that have less oil than we think we do.
It’s easy to get distracted by the fact that oil is one of the biggest components of a home’s maintenance cost. Like most things in life, we tend to focus on the little things first instead of the big things, so when we look at the bigger picture of our homes’ maintenance costs, we tend to ignore things that are actually really important.
Oil is a very big component of our homes maintenance cost. If your home spends the most on oil, your home will also be the one that is the most expensive to run. Our home might spend over five thousand dollars per year on oil itself and over five hundred thousand dollars each year on an oil company for all of the things that oil can do.
Oil is expensive. Oil is expensive. We spend over five thousand dollars a year on an oil company to purchase oil. That is a lot of money! Even worse is that most oil companies will not even bother to offer their oil at a reasonable price. They’ll make sure you know it’s “dirt cheap,” but they won’t let you know how much dirt cheap it is.
Since I was a kid, I have a rule of thumb: you should spend a thousand dollars if it’s your money, but not more than this. We spend $5 per year if it’s your money. We spend $50 every month to pay our bills. We spend $100 per year to pay our mortgage. We spend $100 per month to pay for social security, health care, and a few things. And we spend $50 per year for a few things.
My rule of thumb? If you don’t go into debt to learn about a new oil and then spend 50 bucks on it, then you’re not living it. For this reason, I always try to buy my oil at a reasonable price. I want to know the price, but they don’t tell you the price. We don’t have to read the label all the time, but we should.
We all know the oil companies are just trying to get money out of people. And that is the point. But you should know, it does not matter what they advertise on their labels. You should be able to discern it for yourself. They dont tell you the price, but you can, just like anyone else, be able to find out the price online.
